Karlene Bateman

Karlene Bateman joined Local 31 as In-House Counsel in April 2004. As In-House Counsel, Karlene represents members in grievance arbitrations and acts on behalf of the Local in proceedings before the British Columbia Labour Relations Board, the Canada Industrial Relations Board, the BC Human Rights Tribunal and the Canadian Human Rights Commission. She also represents the Local in matters before the BC Supreme Court, BC Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Canada.

Karlene obtained her LL.B from the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria in 2000 and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2001.

In her spare time, Karlene enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, travelling and playing softball.
