Terry Tyler
- Teamster member since 1972
- worked at Canadian Freightways for 28 years
- elected shop steward and served for 25 years
- as shop steward he settled countless grievances and attended contract negotiations on numerous occasions
- earned numerous safe worker and safe driver awards, including becoming a member of the National Safety Council Million Mile Club, for driving one million miles accident free.
- driver instructor at CFL.
- completed numerous accounting and business courses at Simon Fraser University and several labour studies courses at Capilano College.
- elected as Business Representative 2003-07, 2008-12
- served as a delegate to the Teamsters Canada Convention in 2005
- elected as an alternate delegate to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Convention in 2006.
- portfolio includes 25 different companies including, cartage trucks, tank trucks, prison caterers, warehousing, and manufacturing
- chaired numerous sets of successful bargaining, resulting in improved pay and benefits to the members
- very successful settling grievances and arbitrations
- designed and implemented the new virtual dispatch program the Local now uses to assist members in finding work.
- Trustee on the Teamsters Health and Welfare
- Delegate to B.C. Trucking Association Human Resources Planning Committee
- Director of communications and publisher of the Teamster Local 31 Newsletter
- volunteers his time to help various community groups by driving the Teamster truck
- married to his wife Sue for thirty- eight years and has one son
- enjoys Slo-pitch softball, travel, and fishing
